Mission giving and active involvement in local mission is a major focus at Penney Memorial. Both through our denomination, American Baptist Churches, and in cooperation with other churches and organizations locally, we are answering our Lord’s call to meet the needs of all people. These needs are spiritual, physical, and social, and we attempt to meet these needs through the joyful participation in many missions and ministries:
America for Christ, World Mission Offering, One Great Hour of Sharing, Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering, ABCOM Offering, White Cross and Love Gift Offering. At Christmas time our youth group participates in Operation Christmas Child.
Locally we are involved in the Augusta Food Bank, Bread of Life Ministries, and Habitat for Humanity. Our church also hosts a community dinner on the fourth Saturday of each month for those in our church and community.
Internationally, members of Penney Memorial have made many trips to LaRomana, Dominican Republic, to assist with the building of the Good Samaritan Hospital, as well as providing medical care to those living and working in the sugar cane communities.
